Italian wine guide

Italian wine guide, a complete guide to all italian doc and DOCG wine divided by region

Italy is the country with the largest and most varied production of wine in the world.

The high variability of the climate, the differences between the many grape varieties, and the conformation of the territory make Italy the ideal place for the production of fine wines with very different characteristics, but always appreciated.

When we think of Italian wines often come to mind the famous red wines of Tuscany or Piedmont: Chianti Classico, DOCG, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco DOCG are now entered in the international imagination as symbols of Italian red wines.

But Italy's red wine does not stop at these two regions: in every area of the Italian territory you can find great red wines produced with both indigenous and international grape varieties: just think of wines like Nero d'Avola DOC, Taurasi DOCG or Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG to notice that red wine is part of the italian wine tradition and not just of some of its regions.

If red wine is the king of Italian wines, white wine is certainly not an exception.

Traveling from North to South of Italy we meet Italian white wines of great prestige, famous throughout the world: who has never been temptated by one of the excellent white wines of northern Italy, such as those produced in Friuli, in the Collio DOC area, or a white wine from Trentino Alto Adige, laden with scents and flavors.

How can't we mention, then, the great white wines of Southern Italy, full bodied, structured and alcoholic: white wines of Campania are known throughout the world, and on wine list of many restaurants Sicilian white wines are always very numerous.

Do not forget, then, the production of Italian traditional method Sparkling Wine (the famuos Spumante), which have now reached such peaks of excellence to rival and sometimes surpass the most famous French champagne, mainly in the areas of Franciacorta DOCG, Trento DOC and Oltrepò Pavesee DOCG.

In this area of the portal you will find a number of Italian DOC and DOCG wines, for which we provide, along with a brief description of the organoleptic qualities of the grape variety of origin, porduction techniques, aging and maturation, even the best food pairing.

A trip schematic and not necessarily exhaustive, but as broad and complete as possible through the production Italian wines.
