The Lorese winery by Ercoli Cristian is located in Loro Piceno, a small village of 2500 people located in the hills of Macerata, the heart of the traditional production of Vino Cotto of Marche and a must for anyone who appreciates or wants to learn more about the ancient techniques production of Vino Cotto.

Loro Piceno boasts a glorious history in the production of Vino Cotto,so that, with pride and fierceness, the people have decided to put up a sign at the entrance of the village, to indicate to visitors the arrival in the "Land of Vino Cotto". Loro Piceno, in fact, can offer the highest quality of the famous Vino Cotto, and is also home to the Vino Cotto Wine Festival, an annual celebration full of events dedicated to this unique wine: started in 1948 as a festival of 'Grape with simple and popular celebrations with allegorical wagons decorated with vines and wheat, has come today to be a popular event at a regional level and beyond.

The Vino Cotto (Cooked Wine) is a typical product of Macerata and of Ascoli, that finds in the countryside of Loro Piceno a high profile in history, culture and tradition. The winery Lorese still uses the ancient techniques of production and aging, in full respect of the tradition and in memory of those who lived and passed on this tradition. The grapes for the production of Vino Cotto used by the winery Lorese are local black and white grapes: Trebbiano, Sangiovese and Montepulciano. Immediately after crushing, the must is put to simmer in copper cauldrons, heated by open fire (wood) for about 10-12 hours, until its initial volume is reduced by 30/50%.

Once cooked, the must is poured, still hot, in wooden barrels and left to age for a period of not less than 5 years.

Vino Cotto Stravecchio (Extra-old coocked wine) by the winery Lorese has a beautiful amber color and a warm and sweet flavor, with an alcohol content ranging between 12% and 14% vol.

The vino cotto is a great sipping wine but also it is an excellent dessert wine and goes very well with a wide variety of cakes and especially with all the dry pastries.
