Wineries in Piedmont

One of the best wineries in Piedmont, Italy. Find all the information, contacts, maps and all the great wines. Italian wines like Barolo DOCG, Barbaresco DOCG, Asti Spumante, Italian sparkling wines, etc..

Overview

Langhe like the old West, sunny and mysterious moors, hills that do not allow themselves to tame, plateaus still wild despite Cartesian logic of scanning rows.An El Dorado, a borderland with its own gold rush, pioneers, family sagas, bets won and fortunes sweat, the blood ties that become deeply rooted.

History

The history of the brand Ceretto speaks of this: three generations of wine working, for over seventy years, for a result of excellence, ambassador of Piedmont and Italy in the world. It was Riccardo, the founder, to decide to harvest the creative energy of a single region and to plant the first vineyards in Alba founding the original core of the family winery.

But the 'crack', the turning point for future development takes place in the sixties with the arrival of his son Bruno, the trade manager, and Marcello, the technical director. Different, as only certain close relatives can be, but united and complementary, Barolo Brothers (as they are known abroad with an epithet worthy of Sergio Leone), promoting a gradual ascending quality of the product and do so starting with the foundations of taste, by terroir. They are the ones to undertake a real 'rush to land', selecting the best crus of Barolo and Barbaresco.

In just over thirty years, the Ceretto brothers created a network of small independent wineries in the Langhe and Roero, with the purchase of over 120 hectares for a constellation of wineries from which arise exceptional labels such as Bricco Rocche Barolo, Barbaresco di Bricco Asili, Blangè Arneis, Moscato dei Vignaioli di Santo Stefano, Dolcetto, Barbera, Langhe Monsordo and Grappa.

If rigor and clarity are the main theme of corporate strategy, flair and fantasy mark side projects af the farm: wineries bearing the signatures of famous designers and architects, graphic labels as works of art, literary awards and musical events, because the Wine is, above all, culture.

Meanwhile the new millennium begins, and with timing almost symbolic, in 1999 new recruits enter the farm. Lisa and Alessandro, heirs of Marcello, are occupied respectively in financial and administrative management and production techniques, while the eldest daughter of Bruno, Roberta, is engaged in public relations and promotion of parallel initiatives to the company, along with his brother Federico, responsible for the commercial management of foreign markets.

Collecting from fathers character and profession, vocation and skills, the new generation Ceretto has shown that tradition is also the transition, looking to the future, always on the double track marked by the parents.

Estates

Bricco Rocche

It's been a careful search that lasted for many years that led to the selection of four estate vineyards in the Barolo area. The center of the territory is the winery in Castiglione Falletto designed by Turin De Abate, according to modern architectural fees, but with respect to the functional requirements and in harmony with its surroundings.

The company exclusively produces Barolo wine, vinifying only grapes from 11 hectares of vineyards located in the communes of La Morra (Brunate) Serralunga (Prapò), Castiglione Falletto (Bricco Rocche) and Barolo (Cannubi), for an annual production of 40,000 bottles

Bricco Asili

A small château, one of the few examples in Piedmont of a cellar in the vineyard, Bricco Asili Ceretto is the first farm opened in 1973 and still today, at the peak of production of Barbaresco.

It's a place of experimentation, where the only constant over time was change, while respecting traditions. Just think about that here already in the early seventies, have been adopted steel tanks for the processing of the grapes, equipment necessary to ensure maximum cleanliness and a perfect temperature control.

The company is conducting approximately 6 hectares of vineyard property split in two crus Bricco Asili and Bernardot for an annual productionranging from small numbers to large qualitative, for around 20,000 bottles.

Monsordo Bernardina

Choose an ancient farmhouse of the nineteenth and turn it into a modern and equipped headquarters: the project Monsordo-Bernardina fully reflects the spirit Ceretto, always poised between tradition and renewal.

Since 1987, this estate on the outskirts of Alba is the core of the winery, where are concentrated the administrative and commercial offices and the warehouse that collects all the wines of different wineries.

Monsordo Bernardina is the site of production of some of the historic labels of Ceretto: Arneis Blangé, Arbarei, Brut La Bernardina, Monsordo, Dolcetto Rossana, Barbera Piana, Nebbiolo Bernardina, Barbaresco Asij, Barolo Zonchera and Barolo Chinato.

Vignaioli di Santo Stefano

With a kind of metaphorical return to its origins, the Ceretto brothers, in 1976, founded with two partners (Sergio Santi and brothers Andrea and Gianpiero Scavino) the company I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano (The Winegrowers of St. Stephen), in his native land of his father Riccardo.

The company owns 8 hectares and is the tenants of the estate of San Maurizio del Conte Carlo Vittorio Incisa Beccaria, a prestigious hillside area of approximately 32 hectares in the municipality of Santo Stefano Belbo.

The average annual production is about 160,000 bottles of Moscato d'Asti, 20,000 of Asti and 5,000 of Moscato di Asti Passito.

Contained prunings, balanced fertilization, thinning and sorting of the grapes during harvest, are the fundamental cornerstones on which the work in the vineyard is based, while racking, clarification and filtration reduced to the minimum are the foundations of the cellar steps to ensure and enhance the aromatic heritage of grapes.
