A story that comes from passion for quality
Just a few kilometers outside Florence on the rolling hills of Impruneta, near Pozzolatico, in the "Colli Fiorentini" production area, is situated the Azienda Agricola Lanciola
Immersed in the distinctive tuscan countryside, amidst olive-groves, cypress trees and vineyards. The estate totals around 80 hectares, 40 hectaresof which are covered by vineyards, with the remainder devoted to olive-groves. The estate has a very illustrious past.
In Medicean times it belonged to the noble Ricci family which was also responsible for organizing the estate's early farming and winemaking activities. The goal of the present owners, the Guarnieri family, has been to maximize the use of the land.
The winery
The estate's vineyards formerly called "Terre dei Ricci", produce ''Terricci", an IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) red table wine which is obtained mainly from large berry Sangiovese Grosso and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, "Ricciobianco ", a white wine with excellent structure obtained from Chardonnav grapes, a Chianti Colli Fiorentini, a Vinsanto fortified wine, "'Riccionero", a pure Pinot, and a top quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
In Greve, in the heart of the Chianti Classico area the Azienda Agricola Lanciola has around 14 hectares, 10 of which are devoted to specialized vineyards with optimum south-west exposure, on particularly favorable soil, at an altitude of approximately 300 meters. In addition to Sangiovese, the vineyards contain Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Canaiolo and Colorino grapes.
In the summer when the grapes change their colours we carry out one or two selections of the best grapes. Almost all our production is collected in boxes. This harvest method yields less per hectare but enhances the quality and the characteristics of the wine. The main issue of the viticulture is to reach the perfect maturation of the grapes. This concept, apparently very simple, is in fact very ambitious.The perfect maturation of the grapes can only be achieved by a great care all along the vine-producing process. The quality is reached by paying attention of each single detail.
Fermentation of the Blue Grapes.
The grapes are harvested and put in inoxidable steel boxes which feature an exterior glycol non-conductive layer (cooling or heating) in order to allow us to control the temperature during the first fermentation of the grapes. These boxes feature mixers which control the temperature during the fermentation through electronic devices and also divide and mix the upper part of the grape in the liquid. An electronic-controlled micro-oxygenation permits a constant fermentation independently of the air quality.
Fermentation of the Green Grapes.
After having been collected, the green grapes are macerated and the peel eliminated at a low temperature. The grapes then go through a "light" pressing with a caouthouc membrane, and a stabilisation of the fruit juice at a controlled temperature. The outcome is a clear fruit juice which is fermented in inoxidable steel boxes at a controlled temperature. The Chardonny grapes of the "RICCIOBIANCO" are fermented in small oak barrels at a controlled temperature..
Wine Tastings
Agricola Lanciola, for those who want to visit the cellars and taste the products, organizes wine tastings with tours to wineries and vineyards, lunches and dinners with wines accompanied by local dishes, wine tasting and typical Tuscan cuisine.
All guided tours and tastings must be booked and confirmed 2 days before.

The farmhouses

The Borgo de' Ricci apartments have been built from old houses which are part of the large fourteenth century Azienda Agricola Lanciola complex.
The restoration work was done completely respecting the original structure, creating a perfect balance between tradition and the most modern comforts to offer all of the Tuscan charm and hospitality and top quality services.
The apartments are all very spacious, ranging from 70 to 120 sq. m., and are furnished with a warm and elegant style: floors in terra cotta tiles, exposed beams, fireplace, wooden furniture and all types of comforts.
A large garden surrounds the apartments where fruit trees and blooming bushes grow and where there is a wonderful swimming pool available for guests to use.

Nestled among the beautiful vineyards of Chianti stands the farm Le Masse di Greve.
The farm house of 130 sq metres is nestled between green hills of Chianti Classico.
Its position makes it possible to achieve in a short time the main tourist resorts in Tuscany and just 500 metres from the main square of Greve in Chianti.
The villa has a large lawn of 400 sq metres equipped with a panoramic terrace, a beautiful pool and a large parking lot.
On the ground floor there is a porch of 12 sq metres, lounge with satellite TV system, the dining room, kitchen equipped with all accessories, a storeroom with laundry.
On the first floor there are 3 rooms of which 2 with access to the loggia, one of 10m ² and another of 20 square metres and 2 bathrooms with shower.
